What is needed...

OK, right now I have compiled a checklist of things that need to happen in order for Charlie to be able to make it home. This list is not final and will be updated with new information as it comes to my attention. I will also update this list as tasks are accomplished.

Rabies vaccination (unknown cost)
Health certificate for Rabies vaccination (unknown cost)
Shipping kennel
Airline International shipping fees (Average $1000+)
Connection domestic US flight (approx. $300-$500)
Fees for Import/Export, agent, etc (unknown cost)
Additional shots, screening, etc by vet is US (unkown cost)
Arrange transport for flight home

Alright well that is all that I have for now. Like I said I will update this with sucesses and/or new requirements as I learn them.

Right now the biggest hurdles that stand in the way are the Rabies vaccination with accompanying health certificate and transportation out of Iraq. I am working a few angles on these and will keep you all informed.

I heard somewhere like some immigration guy that you will need a passport to bring him into the states. Bc i need one to take my border collie to Ireland. You might want to look into that good luck. I hope you get to bring charlie home

Hi SGT Watson!! Your efforts to help Charlie and LOVE him so much are so admirable... undescribable what you risk for your country and OUR freedom every day!! Charlie deserves our same freedom and the life of an American dog as you desccribed! Please email Sherri Licklider at the Von Liche kennels in Indiana. They are military dog trainers and recently helped the Iams dog food company bring home another puppy from Fallujah. GOOD LUCK & GOD BLESS!!! :-)

Hi Sgt. Watson - I recently bought a book called "From Baghdad with Love" that describes another soldier's story that is very similar to yours and Charlie's...
The Iams' pet food company was listed there as being a key player at helping to make the transfer, and I sent their customer service people a link to your story from the AP.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all...
God Bless You for your service to our country, and to your dedication to taking care of His Angels while there...

SGT Watson -
As you get closer to making your arrangements to bring Charlie home, please know that in many cases the airlines will allow people to donate their frequent flyer miles to our service men and women. I'm sure that you would have a number of people willing to donate miles in support of bringing you and Charlie home:-) Christi, Mesa, AZ

sheri@vohneliche.com At Von Liche Kennels is a contact for getting Charlie home. This kennel assisted the Iams food company in getting the puppy from Fallujah to the states.

Frequent flyer miles cannot be used to ship animals. The dog does not need a passport either, he needs a health certificate for the flight of which can be obtained using "Military Mascots". PLEASE take advice from Military Mascots, who has done these events hundreds of times for soldier's and their pets.

Sgt Watson
It is a great thing you are doing and I want to help. I will donate any shortfall that you might have in getting Charlie home.I am assuming that it won't be more than $2000. Am I right?

I was a Sgt in the Marines in Korea when I was a kid. I got wounded twice. I know the kind of thing you are up against in combat. Been there..done that.

If you would post an Email address that I could contact you in non public I will give you my Email address. I'm not shy I just don't want to be spammed.
Way to go guy!
Your Friend,
Devil Dog

SGT. Watson,
This is a heartwarming story and I pray for a safe return home for you and a welcome to Charlie when he makes it to the freedom that you and all our soldiers are fighting for. I will gladly make a donation and hope that all other grateful Americans who have the good fortune to do so will too.
God bless and thank you!

Please let us know if there's anyway we can help. I am adding a link to your site on my own blog and will help in any way I can. If Charlie should come in to New England (Boston, NH, etc), I could help with his ground transport.

Hi Sgt Watson,
My family and I saw your story on the local Phoenix nesa last night. I thought it was really great what you and others in your unit are trying to do for Charlie. We adopted a dog from the pound a few years ago and named him Charlie. He turned out to be the best dog we ever had. I asked my 9 year old stepson how much he wanted to donate out of his own money yo help get your Charlie home, and told him I would match it. He said his whole bank account, and I told him I could afford to match that, but we will make a donation. I work at Boeing in Mesa, Az where the AH-64D Apache is built. We have a Boeing animal rescue club which i belong to, and i forwarded a link to your blog to the club hoping to pass the word about donations.
Good luck to all of you and Charlie in your mission, from all of us at Boeing Mesa - Home of the Apache

Your story truly touched my heart. I hope you don't mind that I added your link to my blog and am sending your story to several of my friends and family. You're an angel to not only risk your life for our country, but to fight to bring this little dog home to a life of freedom. I'm an artist and would love to donate a small portrait of Charlie for you and your family if you would accept it. Just comment here or post on my blog. God bless you and Charlie and all the men and women over there.

Charlie cannot be flown into Boston, MA. It is illegal for any pet that has originated from within Iraq to live, land or transit through the state of MA.

Keep posting updates when you have the time.

Wishing you & Charlie well.

Hello. My wife and I bought our house about 6 months ago. It was a foreclosure and we were able to get a great deal on it. We also took advantage of the 8K tax credit so that definitely helped. We did an extensive remodeling job and now I want to refinance to cut the term to a 20 or 15 year loan. Does anyone know any good sites for mortgage information? Thanks!

Mike

Be cautious about the vehicle salesperson who offers you a price over a vehicle prior to he appointments his income administrator. The salesperson will show you anything at all you wish to listen to, but only the director can say yes to the offer. Request to speak on the supervisor face-to-face and find out the sale in writing just before committing to buy the auto. App766udi
